Your workspace holds a prepaid balance shown in dollars. AI work draws it down at exactly what the AI providers charge FusedFrames, with nothing added on top.
What spends AI credit
Three things spend AI credit:
- Processing recordings: splitting captured work into tasks, writing the readable steps, asking questions and making each recording searchable.
- Writing documents, whether a library writes automatically or you choose Write documents.
- The semantic half of search. A search over the API or MCP embeds your query, and that embedding is AI work.
Individual includes $5 of free AI usage every month. Team and Enterprise have no monthly allowance; they spend from the balance they buy.
Topping up
Top up on the Usage page: in the desktop app on Individual and in the dashboard on Team and Enterprise. The Usage page also shows your balance and a chart of AI credit used per day, so you can see where the money goes.
Top-ups start at $5 and are charged to your saved card. Tax and the card processing fee are added at checkout, so the full amount you choose arrives as credit.
Auto top-up refills the balance for you: set the level it should not fall below and the amount to buy, and your card is charged whenever the balance dips under that level.
On Team and Enterprise, topping up needs the billing permission; anyone else who hits the limit is pointed to a workspace admin. If you cancel a paid plan, unused AI credit is not refunded.
When the balance hits zero
Recording processing and document writing pause. Nothing is lost: recordings already captured stay put and are written once credit is back. The desktop app also refuses to start a new recording and tells you why, and FusedFrames emails you when the balance runs low and again when it is empty. Top up and processing and writing resume on their own.
A search over the API or MCP is refused with an insufficient_ai_credit error rather than quietly returning weaker results.
Bring your own AI provider key
Team and Enterprise workspaces can add their own AI provider key instead, under Workspace settings, then Security & privacy in the dashboard, with separate keys for embeddings and transcription if you use different providers. With your own key the providers bill you directly and FusedFrames never meters your AI usage.
